A message from Westpac New Zealand Limited

It has been a tumultuous few months for all New Zealanders, and the outlook for individuals and businesses has changed in ways no one could’ve imagined at the start of the year. We know every business will be affected in different ways, and on top of that our farmers have had to contend with drought conditions in large parts of the country.

We’re working incredibly hard to help Kiwis through this and have already provided loan repayment relief for more than 20,000 personal and home loan customers, and billions of dollars in new and restructured lending to businesses.  We’ve also donated an extra $1m to support New Zealand’s rescue helicopters as they struggle with a fundraising shortfall. For those who are still doing it tough, or are worried about their future, we urge you get in touch with your bank or a trusted financial advisor.  We’ll always be here to help.

Westpac Northland Business Champions 2020 is an opportunity to celebrate and recognise our local business community. We’ve seen and heard remarkable stories of innovation and resilience from Kiwi companies in the last few months. Whether it’s SMEs changing their entire operating model to maintain cash flow, retailers building an E-Commerce offering from scratch or small hospitality businesses connecting with the community to build their customer base, Kiwi businesses have adapted really well to the new normal.

And that’s what these awards are all about – celebrating our leaders, creators and innovators in the business community, and showcasing their hard work. It’s great to see the 2020 Awards give nominees and the wider Northland business community the opportunity to recognise their strengths and challenges, and of course celebrate the local business champions.

All the best to those businesses and business people nominated as Westpac Northland Business Champions in 2020.

Karen Amos, Westpac NZ Area Manager, Commercial & Agri Business Northland
